Wifi 6 (formerly known as IEEE 802.11.ax) is the sixth generation of wireless network technology and the name of the Wifi standard. Wifi alliance is a wireless LAN technology based on IEEE 802.11 standard. Wifi 6 will allow communication with up to eight devices at a maximum rate of 9.6Gbps.

Functional features

Wifi 6 mainly uses technologies such as OFDMA and MU-MIMO, which allows routers to communicate with multiple devices at the same time, rather than one by one. Mu-mimo allows routers to communicate with up to four devices at once, and Wifi 6 will allow routers to communicate with up to eight devices. Wifi 6 also leverages other technologies, such as OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) and transmitting beamforming, which increase efficiency and network capacity respectively. In terms of modulation mode, WiFi 6 supports 1024-QAM, higher than the 256-QAM of WiFi5, with higher data capacity, which means higher data transmission speed.
